Product description: Somaskanda is a divine representation of Lord Shiva with his consort Parvati (Uma), and Skanda as a child. This representation of Shiva with his family is most commonly worshipped in South India, after Shiva Linga. Somaskanda symbolizes universal parentage, and emphasize the importance of the child in family life. This form also emphasizes the worship of Skanda, who is the embodiment of Shiva and Parvathi.
The brass statue portrays Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi seated in lalitasana pose on a rectangle pedestal, with Skanda standing happily between them. Lord Shiva has four hands, his rear hands are holding an axe, and a prancing deer. His front right hand shows Abhaya and his left hand is in the mudra of teaching. Parvathi’s right hand is in the mudra of teaching, and her left hand is rested on the pedestal. Certainly a beautiful statue of Somaskanda in a brown and fine yellow finish with details abound.
