Carved by master artisans of Bali, the statue shows the region’s centuries-old carving tradition at its finest. Sita stands with quiet grace. Her gaze is lowered tenderly toward the deer as it leaps up to meet her. Her serene face, marked with a small bindu is framed by an elaborate crown, and floral ear ornaments. Every part of her attire is richly detailed: the layered collar, the patterned bodice, the beaded armbands and bracelets, and the ornamental sash and skirt panels. All of it is carved with the intricate floral and foliate motifs that define classical Balinese art. Her scarves sweep upward behind her shoulders and cascade down to the base in deep, sculptural folds, which give the piece a remarkable sense of movement and lightness, as if caught in a gentle breeze. The base is carved with swirling lotus leaves and buds, a symbol of purity and divine beauty. The contrast between the high-gloss polished surfaces and the finely textured ornamental areas brings out the warm, natural grain of the mahogany. This is a true statement piece and a collector’s treasure for a living room, entryway, meditation space or gallery display.

For product enquiries and to know our custom finish options, please email us at info@jayarts.com and we will respond within the next 24 hours.

Read about Balinese wood characteristics and statue care

https://www.jayarts.com/products/42-sita-with-the-leaping-golden-deer-hand-carved-balinese-mahogany-masterpiece
