Product description: Lord Shiva, the Hindu God commonly referred to as the destroyer; one who destroys the impurities taking refuge in the human mind. He is one one of the Trimurtis, along with Lord Brahma the creator, and Lord Vishnu the protector. Lord Shiva is also called Mahadeva, and Shiva in his dance form is called Nataraja. The brass statue portrays Shiva as Chandrashekara, or the Lord of the Crescent Moon; a chola art form of Shiva. Shiva is standing on a lotus pedestal, and the upper two hands of Shiva are holding an axe, and a prancing deer. His lower right hand is in the mudra of teaching, while his left hand is positioned with palm facing inwards. The statue has chola style jewelries and clothing, and serpents tied around his legs. Shiva's hair has knots and curls with a crescent shape moon. The deer in Shiva's hand represents that he is the protector of animal kingdom, and the jumping deer also represents an unsettled mind. Shiva holding the deer symbolizes keeping the mind under control. The four legs of the deer also represents the four vedas, hence Shiva is also called as the Lord of the Vedas. The face of Shiva has an absolute peaceful countenance, and certainly a beautiful sculpture of Lord Shiva in a Chola art form.
