Product description: The Buddha is sitting on a raised pedestal in Ardha padmasana position (one leg is folded and resting on the ground, while the other leg is folded with the foot in lotus position), with all five fingers of the right hand extended to touch the ground. This is called the Bhumisparsha mudra, or commonly known as the 'earth witness' mudra, which symbolizes the Buddha's enlightenment under the bodhi tree, when he summoned the earth goddess, Sthavara, to bear witness to his attainment of enlightenment. The Buddha has a peaceful countenance with a gentle smile, and his eyes looking downward in deep contemplation. He has long earlobes, raised brows, and the small bump on the top the head is called the Ushnisha which symbolizes wisdom, and spirituality. The front part of the pedestal has the engraving of Phrae Mae Thorani (Mother Goddess), and the expression of the Buddha is beautifully captured. The antique finish graces the surface giving a distinguished charm to the statue. A traditional piece that highlights the fine workmanship by our artisans of Cambodia.
