Product description: This beautiful seated Buddha captures the moment of serene, centered and quietly radiant presence. The Buddha’s hands are raised before his heart, and the two index fingertips meet each other at the center. He sits in padmasana, the full lotus posture, upon a double-tiered lotus throne, and each petal is carved with crisp, rounded volume. The face looks calm and introspective, with softly downcast eyes, a calm smile and the sacred urna on the brow. Tightly curled hair crowns the ushnisha, and the elongated earlobes recall the princely life he renounced. The carving shows the hallmarks of fine Balinese woodwork. The robe falls in deep, rhythmic pleats that spiral over the knees, and its edges ripple in a graceful wave down the chest and over the lotus seat. A warm, hand-polished honey-brown finish brings out the natural grain of the wood; each piece is carved by hand, slight variations in grain and tone make every statue one of a kind.
