Product description: Lord Kamadeva, the Hindu God of Love is the son  of  Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. According to Shiva purana, Manmathan was created by Lord Brahma. Manmathan married Rathi, the Goddess of lust and infatuation. In Hindu mythology Manmathan and his consort Rathi are responsible for the sensual desires, and love in one’s life. Kamadev is also called Ananga, meaning one who has no physical form of one’s own. Manmathan is portrayed as a young handsome man, holding a sugarcane bow, and uses five fragrant flower arrows, and rides on a parrot. The five types of flower arrows used by Manmathan are from the following trees, namely, Ashoka tree, Mango tree, Jasmine plant, white lotus, and blue lotus. Kamadeva mainly carries these five kinds of arrows with him, and each arrow signifies a feeling, and represents a particular desire and effect that a person can have which are known as - Stambhan (infatuation), Jrumbhan (agitation), Ummadan (burning of the heart), Shoshana (an extreme dryness of life), Maran (destruction). Kamadeva is also called “Mara”, as it is hard to survive the strike of Kamadev. Kamadev is worshipped on Vasant Panchami, the season of spring where the flowers blossom celebrating the arrival of  the couple, and love is spread and nurtured in all living creatures by the blessings of the couple. If there is no Kamadeva, there is no love in the world. There is a story about this in Shiva purana, where love disappeared in the Earth when Shiva killed Manmathan.

The bronze statue portrays Rathi and Kamadeva prancing with pride and romance on an inverted lotus and their respective vahanas are present near their feet; parrot near Kamadeva’s feet, and swan near Rathi’s feet. Kamadeva is seen holding the sugarcane bow with his left hand, and by supporting himself with his left leg, his right hand and leg are raised high depicting his dance pose. Rathi is seen holding Kamadeva’s hand and is seen standing in a similar pose dancing with Kamadeva. The couple is adorned with beautiful jewelries, artistically designed vastram (clothing), and a tall decorated crown. Kamadeva and Rathi looks happy with a smiling expression on their face, and the sugarcane in Kama’s hand is a removable piece. The bronze statue of Rathi Manmathan is a stunning statue with fine intricate details, and is one of a kind statue made using the lost-wax method; an expert craftsmanship by our South Indian bronze artisan.
