Product description: The Buddha is sitting in Ardha padmasana position (one leg is folded and resting on the ground, while the other leg is folded with the foot in lotus position), with all five fingers of the right hand extended to touch the ground. This is called the Bhumisparsha mudra, or commonly known as the 'earth witness' mudra, which symbolizes the Buddha's enlightenment under the bodhi tree, when he summoned the earth goddess, Sthavara, to bear witness to his attainment of enlightenment. The Buddha has a peaceful countenance with a gentle smile, and his eyes looking downward in self contemplation. He has long earlobes, raised brows, and the large protrusion on the top the head is called the Ushnisha which symbolizes wisdom, and spirituality. The robe of the Buddha is draped in a graceful manner covering his body, and with pleats falling in front of his left shoulder. The expression of the Buddha is beautifully captured, and the antique finish highlights the details of the statue, and is definitely an amazing piece for your home, office, and as a gift. A traditional piece that highlights the fine workmanship by our artisans of Cambodia.
