Product description: Elephants have always been given a prominent place in every ancient Indian art form. The brass statue represents an elephant art form called “Nari Kunjar”. The sanskrit word kunjar means elephant, and Nari means women. Lord Krishna with his beloved Radha rides on an elephant made of Gopis; A group of Gopis join together in different acrobatic postures forming the shape of an elephant.
Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu is worshipped as one of the supreme deities in Hinduism for his compassion and love he shows towards his devotees, and Radha is an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi. The brass statue portrays Lord Krishna riding on an elephant of Gopis, and playing his flute. Radha and Krishna riding on an elephant are seated on a howdah( a carriage used on an elephant to carry people ), that has an umbrella fixed on top with hanging ghungroos. The howdah has a peacock feather backing that is beautifully designed and shows Radha and krishna resting and leaning back, and Radha is mesmerized listening to the flute music of Krishna. The enchanting story of Radha and krishna explains the soulful love between the divine couple. The elephant is amazingly designed with Gopis in different positions; the legs of the Gopis form the tusks, trunk, and legs of the elephant, and the formation of Gopis together throughout the body of the elephant explains Nari Kunjar as a beautifully crafted composite art.
