Product description: Lord Kumara also known as Muruga, Karthikeya is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. He is commonly known as the Tamil God Murugan, and is worshipped by Tamil communities throughout the world. Tholkaapiyam, one of the ancient texts of Tamil literature  also identifies Murugan as the red god, and the name Murugan means “youth”. The statue depicts Kumara standing on an inverted lotus pedestal with his vahana, the peacock standing behind him. The peacock is always seen with its feet gripping onto a small serpent. Lord Kumara is seen with four hands, the lower right hand of Kumara shows Abhaya mudra, and his left hand shows Varada mudra. The upper right hand has a weapon called soola kathi( diamond shaped spear ), and left hand has a trishul. The most powerful weapon of Lord Kumara is the sakthi Vel with the Tamil OM engraved, and is placed diagonally to the right of the statue. His flag called the seval kodi is placed diagonally to the left of the statue. The statue of Kumara in a golden yellow finish enhances the beauty of the statue; One of my favorite Murugan statues from our collections.
