Product description: Skanda is the son of Lord Shiva and the name Skanda means “attacker”. He is referred to as the Hindu God of war. Skanda was born from Lord Shiva’s seed when dropped into River Ganges by Agni; He was born to destroy the demon Taraka, who had been granted a boon that he could be destroyed only by the son of Lord Shiva. The statue depicts Skanda with one body, six heads, and twelve hands, each hand holding a weapon. Skanda is standing on an inverted lotus pedestal with his vahana, the peacock standing behind him. The peacock is always seen with its feet gripping onto a small serpent. The right hands of Skanda holds the following weapons arranged from top to bottom - soola kathi (diamond shaped sword), chakra (wheel), ankusha (goad), sword and an arrow. Likewise the weapons on his left hands arranged from top to bottom are trishul (trident), conch, pasha (noose), shield, and a bow. His lower right hand shows Abhaya mudra, and his lower left hand shows Varada mudra. The most powerful weapon of Skanda is the sakthi Vel with the Tamil OM engraved, and is placed diagonally to the right of the statue. The statue is indeed beautiful, and portrays all the attributes of Skanda.
