Product description: Lord Murugan is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi, and referred to as the Hindu God of war. He is commonly known as the Tamil God and is worshipped by Tamil communities throughout the world. Tamil sangam literature glorifies Murugan as the “Red God seated on a blue peacock, young and beautiful”. Tholkaapiyam, one of the ancient texts of Tamil literature  also identifies Murugan as the red god, and the name Murugan means “youth”. He is known by several names and the most common names are Skanda, Kumara, and Karthikeya.

The wood panel depicts Lord Murugan in a standing posture inside a kirtimukha arch with his vahana the peacock behind him. He is adorned with beautiful ornaments and a flower garland. The right hand of Murugan is in blessing pose with his palm facing outwards, and the symbol Tamil OM is engraved on his palm. The weapon Vel is placed on his right, and positioned diagonal to his body. The left hand is rested on his hip which is a typical posture of Lord Murugan. The elegant frame and the charisma of Lord Murugan best illustrates the fine workmanship by our team of artists. Wall hanging hardware attached to panel.
