Product description: This hand-carved bust from Bali shows Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, the divine couple of the Ramayana. They are carved together in a moment of quiet tenderness, with Sita resting her cheek against Rama’s. Both have serene, downcast eyes and soft, contemplative expressions. The carving captures the devotion and unity at the heart of one of Hinduism’s most beloved love stories. The two figures wear elaborate Balinese crowns, each crown has tasseled ornaments falling beside the face, and a flower is tucked into each headdress. Behind them rises a radiant halo of wavy, flame-like rays that frames the pair with a sense of divine light. The lower half of the sculpture flows into smooth, sweeping forms that merge into a base of natural crocodile wood, the rough, knotted bark has been left intact. This contrast between polished figures and raw wood is a signature of Balinese crocodile wood carving. This piece makes a meaningful gift for your loved ones, and a graceful centerpiece for a home altar, living room or meditation space.
