Product description: This hand-carved wooden statue from Bali captures Lord Shiva as the serene master of yoga, seated in meditation on the slopes of Mount Kailash. Shiva sits cross-legged with a gentle smile and half-closed eyes, radiating calm. His right hand is raised in abhaya mudra, the gesture of fearlessness and protection, while his left hand rests easily on his knee. His matted hair is gathered into a high topknot adorned with the crescent moon, and the third eye marks his forehead, the eye of wisdom that sees beyond illusion. He wears the simple ornaments of the great ascetic: layered strands of rudraksha beads, round earrings, and a cobra coiled around his neck and rising over his shoulder, a symbol of his mastery over fear and death. Behind him, a great cobra hood opens like a canopy, its head arching protectively above his crown and framing the figure with finely carved scales. Beneath him lies a tiger skin, its head carved in detail at the front of the rocky base. A beautiful piece carved in crocodile wood, its light, natural finish suits modern and minimalist spaces as well as home altars, meditation corners and yoga studios.
