Product description: This hand-carved Balinese wood sculpture shows the Hindu Trimurti together in one piece. Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Preserver and Shiva the Transformer each sit cross-legged on a blooming lotus throne, and all three thrones rest on broad lily pads that join into a single base. The three statue are removable pieces from the lily pad base. Vishnu sits at the center, slightly raised, with four arms. His upper hands hold a conch shell and a looped emblem. His lower hands are held in gentle, graceful mudras. Shiva sits to one side, holding a water vessel (kamandalu) and raising his other hand in blessing. Brahma sits on the other side, holding a lotus bud and raising his palm in the gesture of protection. The carving follows the classic Balinese style. Each deity wears a tall, flame-edged crown (gelungan) with fine filigree, along with layered collars, armbands and jewelled sashes. Their faces carry a calm expression with downcast eyes, and a subtle smile, which gives the group a quiet, meditative feel. The smooth, pale wood contrasts with the detailed ornament, hence the piece looks good stunning from every angle.
