Product description: Durga is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, and she took this form to destroy the demon Mahishasura. She is the protective mother of the universe, and also known as Devi and Shakti. Goddess Durga symbolizes the divine forces (positive energy), and protects mankind from evil forces(negative energy). Goddess Durga is worshipped during Navaratiri, a festival celebrated for nine days worshipping the Goddess in nine different forms collectively known as Nava Durga. The nine names of Goddess Durga are, Skanda Maata (Mother of Skanda), Kushmanda (creator of Universe), Shailaputri (Daughter of Himalayas), Kaalratri (Destroyer of Kaali), Brahmacharini (following celibacy), Maha Gauri (wife of Lord Shiva), Katyayani (daughter of Sage Katyayana), Chandraghanta(wearing a moon necklace), and Siddhidatri (blessing Siddhis and mystic powers).
The Goddess is portrayed seated on a Lion in Abhaya mudra which clearly explains her power and determination to win the evil forces. She is eight armed carrying different weapons. Her divine shakti contains the combined energies of all the gods in the form of weapons. Her eight arms has the chakra, conch, bow and arrow, sword, mace (gada), trident, and her front right hand shows Abhaya, while the left hand holds a half bloomed lotus. The brass statue has all the iconographical attributes of Goddess Durga, and the fine antique finish enhances the aesthetic appearance of the statue.
