Product description: Lord Nataraja is the Hindu God Shiva in his cosmic dance form. His dance Ananda Tandava on the demon Apasmara within the circle of fire symbolizes the cosmic cycles of creation and destruction. The statue depicts Lord Nataraja in a blazing fire circle called the prabha mandala, and standing on the demon Apasmara, on an inverted lotus pedestal. The iconographical attributes of Lord Shiva are given great attention, such as the River Ganges flowing from his hair, a crescent shaped moon, serpents tied in different parts of his body along with a five headed serpent above his head, a small drum called Damaru in his upper right hand (denotes creation), Agni or Fire in his upper left hand (denotes destruction). The right forehand of Nataraja shows Abhaya ( fearlessness), and his left forehand pointing downwards with the palm facing inwards represents concealment, and that he is the creator of Maya. The flying hair of Lord Shiva shows his fiery dance, and the river Goddess Ganges is tied in his hair to calm the river for the regeneration of life. The statue is indeed a beautiful representation of Nataraja in an antique brown finish.
