Product description: The story of Lord Krishna dancing on the Kalinga serpent is an interesting tale from Hindu mythology. According to the Bhagavata Purana, the serpent Kalinga had polluted the waters of the Yamuna river, making it poisonous for the villagers to drink or use. This caused harmful effects for people and animals living in the surroundings. When Krishna came to know about this, he decided to confront Kalinga and free the river from the serpent’s control. Krishna, who was a child jumped into the river, and the villagers around were concerned by his act. Krishna fought with Kalinga, and subdued the serpent by dancing on the hood of the five headed serpent. Realizing the divine power of Krishna, Kalinga surrendered. Krishna spared Kalinga’s  life as he surrendered, but commanded him to leave the Yamuna river and not harm anyone in future. Seeing the dance of Krishna on Kalinga, the villagers bowed to Krishna and understood the power of the divine grace. The dance is a popular Hindu art which is a symbolic of Krishna's power and compassion, and the victory of good over evil.

The brass statue portrays the beautiful child form of Krishna, dancing gracefully on the serpent. He holds a ladoo in one of his hands, and the tail of kalinga on the other hand. Adorned with beautiful jewelries, the fine features of Krishna as a child emphasizing the soft curves and proportions, and the nakedness of Krishna symbolizes the purity and simplicity of the divine. The beautiful calm face of Krishna and his gentle smile exudes warmth and compassion. The fine details of the statue with respect to Krishna’s jewelry, his posture, the snake hood, and the body of the serpent has been meticulously carved which makes it a a timeless symbol of love and devotion, and the bronze brown patina with a lustrous finish adds to its divine allure. The overall expression of the statue exudes a sense of divine playfulness associated with the child form of Lord Krishna. Certainly an artwork with spiritual significance inviting observers to connect with the divine energy embodied in the figure of Lord Krishna.
