Product description: Lord Hanuman, the Hindu God and an ardent devotee of Lord Rama, is typically portrayed as a monkey-faced god with a strong muscular body. He took this form of Panchamukhi Hanuman (five faces) to destroy Ahiravana, the King of Pathala, who took Rama and Lakshmana to Pathala Loka. Hanuman found out that the life of Ahiravana existed in the five lamps, and extinguishing all the five lamps at the same time would destroy the demon. Hence he took the form of Panchamukhi Hanuman with five faces and extinguished all the five lamps instantly at one time and destroyed Ahiravana. The statue of Panchamukhi Hanuman has five faces, and ten hands holding their respective weapons.
The significance of each face of Hanuman is as follows:
- Sri Hanuman, the monkey-faced god, facing the East symbolizes courage, bravery, and strength, grants Ishta Siddhi - purity of mind and success.
- The South facing Narasimha, is a half-lion and half-man incarnation of Lord Vishnu, grants victory and fearlessness - Abhista Siddhi.
- The West facing Garuda, is the eagle god and vehicle of Lord Vishnu provides protection against negative energies, and grants good luck - Sakala saubhagya.
- The North facing Varaha, is the boar-faced form of Lord Vishnu, grants prosperity and wealth - Dhana Prapthi
- The Urdhva Mukha or upward face is that of Hayagriva, a horse-faced form of Lord Vishnu. This face grants knowledge and wisdom - Sarva Vidya Jaya Prapthi.
